Developmental history of computers is divided into four generations. Every generation is marked by a fundamental change in the way how computers work. In other words, each generation characterizes with different computer technologies. Each technological breakthrough led to more efficient, productive and smaller computers. Four generations of computers are characterized by following technologies: Vacuum Tubes, Transistors, Integrated Circuits and Microprocessors, which we see now inside of our computers . The future generation will be characterized by artificial intelligence.
