Future Generation of Computers

Artificial Intelligence
From Present to Future

IBM's parallel computer
Future generation of computers will be based on artificial intelligence, which means that computers will be able to respond to natural language input like voice. Moreover, computers will learn how to improve and self-organize. Even though that technology is still developing, some features are already in use ,like voice recognition. For that technology, CPU are based on Ultra Large Scale Integration ,which means that processors contain millions of electronic components. Another important features of the future generation are Artificial Intelligence software and parallel processing hardware. Parallel computers contain multi-core processors or multi-processors that allow to make many calculations at the same time. Thus, a big problem can be separated into smaller ones and solved simultaneously by one super computer.
Artificial Intelligence software and hardware would allow computers to understand and respond to human behavior as well as all natural environment.  Also, computers supposed to learn and improve themselves as they interact with environment which varies from understanding simple symbols even to human cultural aspects. A simple example of AI software is  Deep Blue project, which is a computer playing chess. It was developed by IBM. In 1997, the computer bit famous chess player Garry Kasparov. More complex example would be the Blue Brain Project aimed to create a synthetic brain. The synthetic brain would be made on molecular level of the human brain.

AIBO, developed by SONY in 1999, was a famous robotic pet. The robot integrates a computer, vision system, and articulators. It was made for entertainment and educational purposes. In education, AIBO served for robotics courses covering models of perception, cognition, and action for solving problems. AIBOs were used for RoboCup Standard Platform League. Several robots, set up by two teams, had to a play soccer game. All robots played the game autonomously by responding to each other behavior.
Model RS-7 had following hardware specifications:
CPU: 576 MHz
RAM: 64 MB
Memory Storage: 4 MB flash memory
